SoCoDivka Designs offers a line of one-of-a-kind and very limited edition, handmade jewelry made from antique, heirloom, estate, and vintage materials (as well as modern and vintage-inspired finds) — inspired by mid-century modern, ’50s Lucite/Bakelite/Celluloid, Bohemia, and whimsy. SoCoDivka Designs was founded in Austin, Texas, in 2009, by Shanna Pharis.
A self-described “web geek by day, artsy/crafty gal by night” creating jewelry became one of my creative outlets. Jewelry is one of the things I have loved and collected my whole life, beginning with a childhood love of my Czech grandmother’s costume jewelry. I’m inspired by mid-century modern, ’50s Lucite/Bakelite/Celluloid, Bohemia, and whimsy. ”SoCo” comes from the South Congress area of Austin, where I have lived for many years, and “Dívka” is a Czech word for “girl” or “gal.”
